So after doing all the research overview from the 10 projects provided, 10 other projects, and 2 of our projects, I now have to create a Graphic design map based on the 4 fields of design.

Looking through the options that I thought would make a good graphic design map, there are a few ideas I thought of:

  1. Brain - Different sections of the brain could represent different aspects of the design field.

  2. Maze - Consists of 4 different exits that would represent the 4 different fields of design.

  3. Amusement Park Map - Amusement park has a lot of different areas, so I thought it could make an interesting map.

But looking at the options turns out they were already made by past students and some student from the class. So those are pretty much scratched out.

After searching for inspiration, I stumbled upon a Polly Pocket toy, there's a lot of varieties that come with it, and the theme for each and every version was never-ending. It was quite a nostalgic piece from my childhood, cause they don't really produce the mini-versions anymore due to safety hazards.

And so I came to a conclusion to use a Polly Pocket house as a graphic design map. The rooms in the house would be sectioned into the 4 fields of designs. So to begin with the map I sketched out the outerior from the example illustrations. And moving on to the interior, I added my own touch to the room with various furniture that could help represent the projects. So by separating the rooms into the 4 fields of design, I chose 4 different parts of a house that could represent well the 4 different fields of design:

  1. Bedroom - Discursive design. I picked it as a bedroom cause it would symbolize the unlimited possibilities of imagination and creation in dreaming while sleeping.

  2. Kitchen - Experimental design. For this design, I chose a kitchen to represent it just cause a kitchen is an area where people experiment with food and creating new flavors.

  3. Garden - Responsible design. A garden would suit best in representing having responsibilities, just cause the environment and lives needs certain responsibilities to upkeep it.

  4. Pool - Commercial design. Well, the pool is an area people spend their recreational time at, so having to think of commercial is where people share and talk, the pool area suits it best.
